Frequency and Course of Treatment

Psychotherapy sessions may be scheduled from one to three times per week. The greater the frequency, the more in depth the treatment. Sessions usually last 50 minutes. It may be difficult at the outset to estimate the number of sessions necessary to address a particular problem or achieve a particular goal. Some difficulties respond to short-term therapy, while others may require a longer period of treatment.

Treatment continues until the troubling symptoms have been reduced or alleviated and the person is consistently functioning well. For some people, this positive experience inspires them to continue with treatment, in order to bring about additional changes. For others, meeting their initial goals may be sufficient, in which case the focus of the remaining sessions turns to issues related to the ending of treatment. The termination process allows people to identify and understand feelings about separation, maturation, loss and change.

Fees and Schedule

Please call me to discuss my current fee and schedule. Although I am not a provider on any health insurance panels, I can prepare a monthly statement for you to submit for reimbursement. Be sure to find out if your plan reimburses for out-of-network providers. In addition, in certain cases depending upon the individual's income and ability to pay, a reduced fee may be possible.
